Update on the future of the Soil to Supper program

April 17, 2025

After four months of uncertainty and very little communication from the USDA, we heard that our Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant was officially terminated. This federal funding made it possible for us to create our Soil to Supper project, which supported livestock producers to get more meat into regional supply chains while reducing waste, increasing soil health, and building climate resilience.

We have already enrolled 13 livestock producers into the program over the last year, and we are dedicated to continuing to support them through their journey to create resilience on their lands.

Now that we know the grant is officially terminated, we must raise a minimum of $55,000 to fund this critical work done by the livestock producers. Without this, these land stewards risk losing access to the tools and support they need to make lasting improvements on their farms and ranches.

Your donation will help cover:

  • Supplies and incentives for livestock producers to support compost and biochar application on non-irrigated rangelands, enhancing soil health and carbon sequestration
  • Soil testing to track improvements, guide adaptive management, and demonstrate the impact of regenerative practices
  • Free public workshops to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and expand the reach of climate-smart agriculture
  • Staff time and travel for on-the-ground guidance, technical support, and field monitoring to ensure ranchers have the resources they need to succeed

This work is too important to stop now. With your support, these producers can continue restoring the land, improving local food systems, and building a more sustainable future.
